“Motherboard: Dark Web” explores the intricacies of Black America’s global influence on culture through digital media. It is said that the internet is not a real place yet our presence online is evident. We create art, songs, beauty routines, food, and fashion styles that inspire the
masses online. From long decorated fingernails to golden grills, we unconsciously trend forecast by simply being ourselves. We are the sounds used in voice over skits. We create the dance moves that go viral. We create social movements that spark change all from our cellular devices. However, unfortunately, we do not always see the benefits from these revolutionary impressions due to erasure. Most of our history has been destroyed, lied about or undocumented leaving our truths to be left up for debate. Occupying space online, in real time, is data that cannot be easily refuted. As technology progresses, these digital foot-prints will provide insight on Black America’s significance for future generations.I find peace in knowing our footprints are being recorded, we were here.
